The playful and lecherous Pan is the Greek god of nature, lust, and the masculine generative power. The Greek word Pan also translates as All, and so he is a symbol of the Universal, a personification of Nature. The Night of Pan is that time of symbolic death where one experiences unification with All through the ecstatic destruction of the limited sense of self. It is the state where one transcends limitations and experiences oneness.

Myself and my bestest girl will be going to Contempt on Saturday but will have some time to kill between the 04:00 kick out and our first train to Ossining at 06:20. Anyone got any suggestions for somewhere warm and laid-back to wait it out?
Either that or am I missing an obvious public transport option? My Google-Fu is failing me!

I'll be flying out from London for a week in New York, staying with my best mate in Ossining.
Would really love to find a club in NYC to hit during my time over there so looking for suggestions/recommendations. I'll be in town between the 15th and 22nd November. My birthday's on the 19th, so doing something on that date would be extra awesome.
We're more into the industrial/bleep side of the gothic range, but will consider anything!

Call for submissions: Absent Cause #5 – Dangerous Gifts
Absent Cause zine was established in 2008 as a venue for people from myriad cultures and selves, pushed to the outskirts and into the underground, to find each other, draw connections between their experiences, and gain strength for their struggles.
The term “Dangerous Gifts” is usually associated with the special contributions of people with mental illness / variance. But there are many kinds of dangerous gifts we experience and share: the person who chooses to wear a veil as an expression of culture or religion; gender or gender-less expression outside the male-female binary; being a fat person, a hairy grrrl, or having other physical characteristics outside mainstream acceptance; existing as a survivor in a social system that celebrates abuse and war; the choice to confront capitalism, racism, patriarchy and heteronormativity in a culture of submission; and so much more.
Absent Cause is seeking submissions on your experience of “Dangerous Gifts” for the forthcoming issue. Artwork, comix, photography, essays, poems, and SHORT fiction are welcome.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 30, 2011.
Explore the dark side with Absent Cause: Underground cultures and hidden histories; feminist, gender-variant and queer sexualities, chosen families and radical politics; vampirism, the gothic, horror and the macabre; surviving abuse, coping with mental illness/dangerous gifts, self-harm and suicide.

I understand that this is extremely short notice but we were just aloud to publish something with in the playbill that makes it worth seeing who would wish to be part of it as well.

July 16th in Philadelphia Dorian's Parlor One Year Anniversary Event info and RSVP here : http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=117135848365529&ref=ts
I am certain you are all aware that this July 16th in Philadelphia the one year anniversary of Dorian's Parlor One Year Anniversary is talking place.
We have been extremely fortunate and privileged via Wildside Press to be aloud to publish exclusively the prologue and first chapter to the debut novel of G.D Falksen's The Hellfire Chronicles: Blood In The Skies. This means the playbill we are publishing and handing out for free to more than the 500+ attendees at our great event will include not only full color playbill of all the entertainment, performers and vendors of the event but also a preview of a book just out this July. Due to this special collector's item we now feel it is appropriate to open our playbill up for you to place your advertisements within its pages. But due to time constraints with the event we are only open to all ad slots for the next 24 hours from now, until 6am Tuesday EST. So please if you wish be part of this ever growing fantastic night now is your change to have your ad within the pages of our collectable playbill with exclusive printed material.
I would love for the playbill to be full of nothing but ads for the fantastic fashion and accessory stores and such I see post here all the time.
Info on add space needs here ( The details you need to know )
It should also be noted that during the event we are having quite a large amount of press and media filming for documentaries and a number of other things so it is a chance to have your promotional material seen by members of the press and TV as well.
If you wish to jump on this short lived opportunity please email for ASAP info : apramagioulis@gmail.com
Thank you and I hope you come if you can. It's really becoming something special beyond the magic we do monthly at Dorian's Parlor.

THE OLD LADY WHO INVENTED GOITH – the debut novel from Mick Mercer

Having written about Goth since it began, with a past in fanzines (starting in 1976) and music journalism, I guess it isn’t surprising what lies at the heart of my first novel, THE OLD LADY WHO INVENTED GOTH, but this is not a typical book. For a start the first edition is illustrated in a new way for a novel, while the story is a prequel to what we know and understand. 100 years ago Hermione M. Lee wanted what we have now, but it simply didn’t exist. As she was just fourteen, and a surprisingly foul-mouthed child, with The Great War brewing quietly in the distance there wasn’t a great deal she could do about it, or anything. That never stopped her trying, from the moment she found creativity crackling beneath her fingernails and in a busy life Hermione was rarely inert for long. A champion of darkness, and yet a vanquisher of gloom, Hermione M. Lee is a Gothic blueprint in action, living a life steeped in sin and intrigue, but justifiably so.
